Sussex Woodland House

Re-Format was engaged to develop a family house situated in a woodland near to Midhurst. Our concept was to create a dwelling which responds to the specific surroundings whilst making as little impact as possible on the wooded landscape.

The building becomes one with the landscape through allowing vegetation to grow on the terraces and roof, minimal patios are scooped out the sloping ground, and as many trees are retained as possible.

The materials chosen have a modest quality and form a simple palette of handmade bricks combined with concrete panels and warm neutral vertical timber slats.
