Sheldon House, Steep

Sheldon House

Steep

A contemporary replacement dwelling with basement on “The Island” a private collection of dwellings located near the village of Steep.

The design comprises series of masonry walls run parallel to the garden supporting a simple timber bedroom volume with a masonry chimney element uniting the two storeys. The recessed frame of the timber volume shields oblique view and provides important solar control.

The key conceptual driver for the Steep home was to create a stronger relationship between the living spaces and the south-facing garden.
