Four Marks Community Building Four Marks Community Building Four Marks A new community and recreation building in Four Marks, along side a new cark park and children’s play area. The centre would comprise a community café, multipurpose halls, business centre with hot desking and meeting rooms, parish council offices, toilet and shower facilities, a catering kitchen, and associated storage. The building is conceived as a collection of pitched roof forms that reference the rural vernacular of simple large span agricultural buildings prevalent within the rural areas of the County. Simple barn type structures have a simplicity and economy of form that provides a useful precedent for the design. The use of a restrained palette of simple, robust materials further reinforces the reference to simple agricultural buildings. Pale buff brick and vertical timber cladding brings texture and interest to the elevations. Profiled metal roofing to the pitched roofs is contrasted by extensive green sedum over the flat roof elements.
