Alitex Alitex South Harting Re-Format was appointed to design a new entrance pavilion for the Alitex manufacturing campus. The proposed building forms a new public frontage for the site whilst providing office and meeting spaces, and guiding visitors to the show gardens. The simple form is enhanced by reinterpreting the traditional ‘cart-shed’ entrance, and in so doing references local agricultural buildings. Materials also relate to the existing factory buildings but are refined and distinctive. Grey standing seam metal cladding gives way to bronze panels beneath, revealing the bright and dynamic spaces within. Elegant vertical timber fins provide solar shading and controlled views both looking in and out. “For several years I’d had a vision as to the evolution of our headquarters and when the time came to move forward, Re-Format was the first name recommended. The team interpreted my vision with empathy, but key for me was the subsequent professional and personal input. This enhanced the scheme to such an extent that I have been confident to follow Re-Format’s lead ever since.
