Prince’s Mead School

Winchester

Re-Format was commissioned to design much needed additional accommodation for Prince’s Mead School, an Independent Preparatory School in Kings Worthy, Winchester.

The new extension to the Grade II* listed main school building has provided a new dining hall and kitchen, new classrooms and a digital study space.

The project has undergone several previous proposals leading to an unsuccessful planning application by other architects. Re-Format were tasked with developing a more historically sensitive scheme and responsive layout to gain planning approval and meet the challenging budgetary constraints.

“Re-Format has taken on a project that was originally refused at planning, to produce a design which creates a beautiful, elegant response to our fine existing building but which is underpinned by an economic rigour which has adhered to our cost requirements. We were delighted that this received delegated permission at planning and considerably overcame neighbours and stakeholders concerns.

They have given us a thorough and supportive service, with advice on all aspects of the project so far with a friendly professional attitude. We would have no hesitation in recommending their services.”
