Bourne Mill Care Home
Farnham
Overview
A 60 bed care home set within woodland and waterways on a former mill pond site in Farnham.
The 3400 square metre care home and the neighbouring affordable homes are designed as a set of 2 and 3 storey buildings that match in terms of external form and materials, defined by a strong rhythm of masonry colonnades framing elevations made up of timber cladding panels and glazing.
The 3 building groups create a linear building form that mirrors the course of the 2 waterways as they weave through the landscape, forming a contemporary backdrop to this unique millpond setting. This simple form of colonnaded pavilions is set low within the landscape and only occasionally visible from outside, always filtered by trees and planting.
