Bourne Mill

Bourne Mill

Farnham

Re-Format designed this stunningly contemporary 60 bed care home and 16 shared equity affordable homes on a former mill pond site on the edge of the historic town of Farnham in Surrey.

The 3400 square metre care home and the neighbouring housing are designed as a set of 2 and 3 storey buildings that match in terms of external form and materials, defined by a strong rhythm of masonry colonnades framing elevations made up of timber cladding panels and glazing.

The 3 building groups create a linear building form that mirrors the course of the 2 waterways as they weave through the landscape, forming a contemporary backdrop to this unique millpond setting.

The verdant landscaping creates filtered and framed views through to the simple forms of the colonnaded pavilions.

The care home has nine themed lounges for residents to relax in with relatives and friends which have been designed to make the most of the stunning views with many opening out onto generous terraces and balconies.
