Cemetery Lane

Cemetery Lane

Basingstoke

Cemetery Lane proposes the sensitive reuse of three redundant agricultural barns to create a single high quality dwelling. The scheme retains and re-clads the existing barn structures and introduces a light-touch timber colonnade to link the buildings.

Designed with sustainability at its core, the proposals include highly insulated envelopes, green roofs, integrated solar PV, and air source heat pumps to significantly reduce carbon emissions.

The design enhances biodiversity through new planting and achieves a biodiversity net gain well beyond the policy requirement. Situated on the edge of the Upton Grey Conservation Area, the project carefully balances heritage considerations, structural reuse, and environmental responsibility, transforming a derelict farmstead into a contemporary, low-carbon home that sits harmoniously within its rural setting.
