Locks Heath Free Church
Fareham
Overview
Re-Format was invited to provide a design for a large extension to an existing church to provide a new 500 seat worship space alongside various community facilities including sports halls, café and meeting rooms. The concept was a floating timber ‘lamella’ structure which in structural terms is made up of individual pieces of wood that rely on each other to form a structural whole. Re-Format used this as a strong metaphor for the church in which the building speaks strongly of the community bond.
