Won through a design competition, Phase 2 Brooklands Square is a mixed use development for developer Places for People. The building fronting onto the new ‘market square’ contains retail units on the ground floor with a large fitness centre on the upper floors. To the rear of the scheme are apartments that enclose a landscaped parking court.
The new urban space is a contemporary take on the traditional English market square and is to be the centre of the proposed Brooklands neighbourhood in Milton Keynes, a phased development comprising of approximately 2500 residential units, retail, commercial and community facilities on land to the south east of Milton Keynes.
Re-Format are responsible for the design of two phases on either side of the square, providing 54 new residential 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments and approximately 2000m2 of retail and commercial space (see phase1). The scheme is on site a due to be completed in early 2019.
“Places for People worked with Re-Format on the design of Brooklands Square the mixed use heart of our 2500 home development in Milton Keynes. Their excellent design and presentation skills have resulted in a scheme that has been widely praised whilst also respecting our budget and buildability requirements. They have been enthusiastic and positive members of the team always responding to challenges promptly and with well-considered solutions.”
