Two new studios were constructed over a minimalist 1960s single storey house. A dramatic structural ‘rib-cage’ of curved glulam beams is supported on mild steel ‘spine’. Set within a Surrey pine forest, the materials were chosen to compliment their setting and require virtually no maintenance. The scheme has been extensively published and was awarded an RIBA design commendation.
“I believe that they (Re-Format) are one of the best concept architects that I have come across.”
