The Bulmershe School

Reading

Won in competition, Re-Format coordinated the transformation of The Bulmershe School, Woodley. This included producing a detailed phased masterplan incorporating new construction and the renovation of existing buildings. A new gateway building creates a dynamic new entrance to the school campus. The striking new structure includes a generous reception area, a large auditorium, a 6th Form centre, and teaching accommodation.

These developments have ensured that the school can operate as an integrated 21st Century learning environment, with state-of-the-art teaching spaces for future generations of students. In addition to the general school buildings, a ground-breaking Student Support Centre was built to form a base camp for peer led counselling and external services providing advice, advocacy and mentoring.

“Re-Format’s thorough approach to the design of the scheme and from the outset their meticulous analysis of the client brief has meant a design that meets all of the school aspirations and more!”

Neil Jones, Construction Project Manager, Wokingham Borough Council

“At Bulmershe School we are delighted with our new entrance building, we have fresh, bright classrooms and office space including a new welcoming reception area. The modern and professional styled Sixth Form Centre gives our sixth form students the opportunity to experience an office-like environment. The most impressive part of the design is our outstanding Auditorium, with its tiered seating, which enables excellent opportunities for whole school events.”
