The Bulmershe School

Wokingham

Overview
Re-Format designed a new gateway building and independent Student Support Centre at The Bulmershe School, Woodley. The two new buildings are the first phase of the wider masterplan that will lead to the regeneration of the school campus.

Creating a dynamic new reception entrance, the gateway building adds a new 6th form centre, school hall and teaching block to the school’s existing accommodation. These developments ensure that the school can operate as a fully integrated 21st century learning environment, combining state of the art teaching spaces for students with a modern school hall that allows large group assemblies and performances. The ground-breaking student support centre will be a base camp for peer led and external services in advice, advocacy and mentoring, particularly to vulnerable groups.

Testimonial
“Re-Format’s thorough approach to the design of the scheme and from the outset their meticulous analysis of the client brief has meant a design that meets all of the school aspirations and more!”

— Neil Jones, Construction Project Manager, Wokingham Borough Council

“At Bulmershe School we are delighted with our new entrance building, we have fresh, bright classrooms and office space including a new welcoming reception area. The modern and professional styled Sixth Form centre gives our sixth form students the opportunity to experience an office like environment. The most impressive part of the design is our outstanding Auditorium, with its tiered seating, which enables excellent opportunities for whole school events.”
