A contemporary new development for McCarthy & Stone comprising 34 retirement living apartments located in the historic town of Cirencester.
The brownfield site was particularly challenging due to a number of complex contextual constraints. To the east of the site the scheme had to respond to the former railway station designed by the pioneering engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. To the west was is a large modern contemporary office building and to the south a roundabout with a large Waitrose supermarket. Following research into the history of the area Re-Format produced a wider masterplan indicating how the proposed development could be a catalyst for the regeneration of this neighbourhood.
Although contemporary in design, the careful selection of materials and detailing has produced a scheme that will complement and enhance its historic setting.
“It has been a pleasure working with Re-Format who have shown great patience, and responded swiftly to the changes that have been requested/required.”
