Replacement Dwelling

Dippenhall

Overview
Re-Format has obtained planning permission for the replacement of an existing large 1950s detached dwelling at Dippenhall with a 13,000 sq ft contemporary country house, pool building, home office and garage. The hillside site, on the western side of Farnham in Surrey, extends to 1.9 hectares. Despite its setting in the countryside and outside any settlement boundary, consent was granted under delegated powers for this significantly larger dwelling.

The design is conceived as a contiguous sculpted timber edifice which creates the framework for a series of interlinked external spaces, and is ordered by an enclosing crystalline rendered frame. This set piece design sits within a clearly articulated and highly cultivated landscape setting created by landscape designer Ann-Marie Powell.
