Re-Format’s own offices were created from a series of dilapidated listed buildings on Alton’s historic High Street. At the heart of the mixed use scheme is a new pedestrian route connecting the private car parking court with the commercial centre of the town. This new thoroughfare was ‘sign-posted’ by the insertion of a contemporary white curved sculptural wall. This not only sets up a ‘dialogue’ with the existing buildings but also reflects light into the new alleyway. The local authority has subsequently used the scheme as an exemplar in how to regenerate listed structures.
“Throughout the years Format House proved to be an excellent marketing tool for our business as well as being an inviting and inspiring place to work”
