Baldwins Hill Primary School

East Grinstead

Overview
A simple two classroom extension with associated breakout spaces and WC provision to create a 1 form entry primary school at Baldwins Hill Primary School in East Grinstead, West Sussex. The classrooms create an elegant pitched gable frontage to the playing fields, reflecting the existing building form.

Full height glazing fills the north facing gables which bring light into the classrooms without compromising glare and overheating. The south facing glazed gables are protected from overheating by coloured louvre panels which fill the gables at high level. Standing seam zinc roofs create a crisp interpretation of the existing pitch roofs, while local brickwork is used for the bases, again to tie into the existing school.
